I’ve always enjoyed Maximum Bob’s work and his new group the Stockyard Skinners continues his style of dark unorthodox rock. Amidst the profound roaring bellows and harmonized crooning, MB delivers thought provoking serenades weaving in bits of horror and humor into his lyricisms about uncomfortable truths in our post modern society. This song is primarily driven by heavy drums and bass that form a canvas for Maximum Bob’s deep guttural intonations that are complemented by guitarist Ryan Feliciano’s stylistic fingerwork. All in all a solid performance by Maximum Bob’s Stockyard Skinners. No quacks here, this duck gives “The Gates” 5 out of 5 tail feathers!!

about
Because, sometimes you get that we are the cattle...
A reenvisioning of Maximum Bob's solo effort, The Gates is heavy, melodic, pulsing... an odd combination of relentless yet deft drums and bass counter a huge soundscape of simply raw guitar and a yearning voice that forecasts a dystopian foundation in its infancy, a future one can not simply immunize to avoid.
lyrics
The Gates
Syrup sweet, the lies...
Thinly veiled, calls to align,
Speaking deep to mechanisms
Born of a discontented mind
Nostalgia sells,
The time before your mirages dried
Close yourself to spirit
Just an Xbox pulp
Inside a poisoned rind...
You better spit those seeds out
Race baiting and pontificating
Tales are bifurcated
Got you taking less and paying more.
The Program keeps you blind
Somehow keeps you watching.
Crisscross skies and, needles primed and
Sooner to the Gates,
Just a poke from Bill,
Then go meet Peter
Got you shuttered in
In a sofa sleeper coffin
Bending space while you're spending time,
Time you don't have.
Somewhere along the line
Hive mind and pretty smiles
And fear of not belonging
New weapons of choice
More useful than crosses
And the army's toys.
Crisscross skies and, needles primed and you're
Sooner to the Gates,
See Melinda and Bill, then go meet Peter
Hour is late, but you don't see
The Elders' deeds in your 4G stream...
Too busy growing up your debt
You've got your rumors to read.
Got your tumors to feed
So what can you do?
Sloth and envy fit like a custom suit
Colors divide, and quest of power blinds
Need for control over compromise
So wear their noose
It's just sugary carbonation
An artificial affirmation
Just go to sleep
Don't you dare wake the beast
No
Crisscross skies and, needles primed and you're
Sooner to the Gates,
See Melinda and Bill, then meet Peter
The hour is late, but you don't see
The Elders' deeds in your 4G stream...
Too busy growing up your debt
You've got your rumors to read.
You've got your tumors to feed.
I hear they like sugar and flouride
So you just keep on eatin' and brush those teeth.
You've got your rumors to read.
You've got your tumors to feed....

269 pikes and no signs of slowing down. No one is even moderately close to his skill and production. The poisson is in the parchment .....glorious Tapeworm
Sonar Rainbow - Double Man
Basic riffs thud on as Bucket delivers the goods throughout a good portion of the song.
The Maddening... - Double Man and Disembodied
Bucket truly separates himself on this one. Cuckoo and Bucketheadland 2 vibes
Debris - 3 piece chicken dinner with a side of gravy
Venomous Fog (instant classic)
More complex riffage with a nice heavy flow. Solos occasionally pop up adding flavor to the song. Beau Heilman
